Parking charge at Easton Street car park raised 80% (increased from £5 to £9) by Wycombe District Council from on 1st April 2019. This petition is to protest against this unfair, unjust massive parking charge increase and to request Wycombe District Council to remove this unacceptable price increase.
This price increase is absolutely despicable on the council’s part. People commuting into London have no choice and should not be put through this unjust rise, it is extra burden on top of the train fare increase to London and commuters can't afford this huge parking charge increase.
There are many lower level council staffs, NHS, Royal mail and local charities workers park here to work for very low wages and it is unfair when parking cost more than minimal wage.
Parking charge at Duke Street car park is also increased. Other towns make provisions with lower charges to encourage more visitors to help the local businesses. Wycombe District Council has run down the local High Street and now with hefty parking charges it will make things worse.

I have been asked to respond to the above petition. While it is unfortunate that parking charges have had to increase, they have not done so for over 10 years and the overall increase is, in the main, no more than inflation over that period. In respect of neighbouring authorities our charges are still at the lower end of the range. The price for a full day’s parking at Easton Street has increased by a greater proportion but this is in line with the price in the main station car park and is meant in part to encourage users to look at other ways of getting to the station, including using the park and ride car park at Handy Cross. There are also other, cheaper car parks further away from the station which can be used.
