During those representations, the following points and questions were raised –


·         The Saunderton station was a focal point which would attract around 70 more train journeys.

·         Where would the extra people using the station park their cars?

·         If 1000 houses were built all around the area, this would impact by vastly increasing the traffic.

·         It was considered that Chiltern Railways did not want to stop more trains at Saunderton.

·         Haw Lane was becoming a ‘rat run’ with children crossing at school times. Concern was raised that Haw Lane would get worse in terms of traffic volume which, in turn, would put school children at risk.

·         If additional traffic used Haw Lane, this would exacerbate problems with moving out on to the A4010.

·         That the Molins site was an irreplaceable asset. Sustainability would lessen if only housing was built on the land.

·         By adding more vehicles to the area would not lessen the carbon footprint.

·         The provision of a retirement village would be an asset to the area and would not significantly add to the traffic volumes in the area. 

·         A care home or retirement village would bring employment to the area.

·         Why did WDC not welcome applications for care homes?

·         The community would be better served with a Neighbourhood Plan particularly as this was being promoted by central government.

·         Large scale housing was inappropriate for the area due to the AONB and Green Belt.

·         There would be increase delivery vehicles if housing were built, as well as additional school traffic.

·         A team had already been assembled to look at a Neighbourhood Plan, who would meet the necessary timescales.

·         That traffic volumes were currently unsustainable.

·         Due to no pavements in places, dog walkers already were put at risk, but if pavements were built, this would put walkers at greater risk as it would narrow even further the already narrow road.

·         Flooding underneath the two railway bridges, one in Haw Lane and the other in Slough Lane, occurred every time it rained.  This had a knock-on effect with traffic as far back as the Pedestal roundabout in West Wycombe.

·         Flooding was an ongoing issue particularly in relation to West’s Yard as everything is on a slope and the Golden Cross pond acts as a soakaway meaning the pond could not be moved or worked on.
